J. Fitzgerald Group Creates Medical Specialty Brochures for UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine

J. Fitzgerald Group, an international advertising and marketing agency based in Lockport, recently created a complete series of brochures that detail all the specialties UB Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine offers its patients.

JFG created a concept and theme for the brochure series to ensure consistency throughout, yet tailored to each medical specialty. JFG then wrote, designed and coordinated printing for each of the 10 brochures, detailing a specialty of the local orthopaedic group.

The brochures JFG created will help the doctors of UB Orthopedics detail the medical services they provide for all types of injuries and ailments, including shoulder, knee, spine and more.

Mark Mistriner, CEC, of Grand Island, chair of the Business and Hospitality Division and Coordinator of Culinary Arts at Niagara County Community College (NCCC), has been recognized by the American Culinary Federation (ACF) as the 2012 Northeast Region Chef Educator of the Year during the 2012 ACF Northeast Regional Conference in Niagara Falls, April 28-30. 

“I am honored to have been chosen to represent the Northeast region as the chef Educator of the Year,” Mistriner said. “As an educator, I truly enjoy watching the students grow and develop from their first day in the kitchen until graduation and beyond. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that I have in some way helped students to progress toward a successful career.”

New Gasoline Convenience Store Franchise, Dino Mart, Opens on Grand Island

A new gasoline convenience store brand has entered the Western New York marketplace.  Dino-Mart, a franchise developed by NOCO Energy Corporation, officially opened its doors today at 1441 Ransom Road on Grand Island. Local business, civic and government leaders gathered to officially open the new store for business during a ribbon cutting ceremony. The new 3,200 square foot store features a Coffee Culture and Grand Island Eatery.

“We are excited to bring the first Dino-Mart to Western New York and on Grand Island where we believe the store will fill a need for on the go customers in an area that really does not have quick and easy access to a gasoline convenience store,” said Chuck Rizzo, who is one of three managing partners of Dino-Mart. “On behalf of my partners in this endeavor we are very grateful for all of the community support we received to build our new store.”

Grisanti Introduces New Medicaid Fraud Technology That Will Save Taxpayers $5 Billion

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today unveiled new biometric technology during a midday press conference that will combat Medicaid fraud in New York State. Grisanti’s co-sponsorship of bill S.4384 establishes the Medicaid identification and anti-fraud technology program utilizing the science of measuring human body characteristics like fingerprinting for authentication purposes. 

This legislation will require the Department of Health to develop and implement a program using biometric technologies in hospitals, clinics and pharmacies for the purpose of fighting fraud in the Medicaid program by having patients and providers verify their identity prior to payment being made.

Company presents NCCC leadership with check for $375,000

Leaders from the Seneca Nation of Indians, Seneca Gaming Corporation and Niagara County Community College, as well as New York State Senator George Maziarz, gathered this morning near the future home of the College’s Niagara Falls Culinary Institute to talk about one of the project’s key ingredients - money.

The Seneca officials presented the college with a check for $375,000 for the Culinary Institute, which is being developed in the former Rainbow Mall near the entrance to the Niagara Falls State Park. It was the first payment of the $1.275 million Seneca Gaming Corporation has pledged to the project over the next five years.

Edwards, a leading global manufacturer of vacuum and abatement equipment and services, today officially opened their new $3.5 million North American headquarters in Sanborn, NY in Niagara County.  The new facility is 64,000 square feet and will be home to production, engineering, customer care, administration, marketing and distribution services.

Officials from Edwards joined local, state and federal government, business and community officials to unveil the company’s new headquarters in Sanborn.  Once fully operational the new facility will employ approximately 150 individuals.

Niagara County IDA and the Niagara USA Chamber U.S. To Host Informational Seminar on Development Opportunities in Niagara County

The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency (NCIDA), in conjunction with the Niagara USA Chamber U.S. will host an informational seminar on the resources available to those interested in economic development opportunities in Niagara County. Topics that will be covered by NCIDA staff are the agency’s marketing initiatives, how to apply for P.I.L.O.T Agreements, available financing programs for development projects and a testimonial from a Niagara County business owner on the benefits of working with the NCIDA.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Vantage Centre, 6311 Inducon Corporate Drive, Sanborn, NY, from 8-10 am. The seminar will also provide information on the various development projects taking place or in development.
