NY Senate Passes Grisanti Law Criminalizing Concealment Of Human Corpse

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced that the New York State Senate has voted to pass the Bill S6489 which makes it a crime to conceal a death by knowingly moving or otherwise hiding a human corpse so that discovery of the death will be hindered.    The bill known as “Amanda Lynn’s law” would make the commission of this crime a D Felony up from a misdemeanor for the improper disposal of a dead body.

“I am pleased that the Senate has voted to pass this law in honor of Amanda Lynn.  Current law is totally inadequate for the seriousness of the crime of improperly disposing of a human being.  With the passing of Amanda Lynn’s law anyone who attempts to move or conceal a body in the attempt to hinder its discovery will find the full weight of the legal system thrown at them,” said Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60).

Niagara University Offering Free CERT Training Courses to Niagara County Residents

Niagara University Offering Free CERT Training Courses to Niagara County Residents

Border Community SERVICE of Niagara University will host two free CERT training courses this May in Niagara County.

Classes at Wrights Corners Fire Company, 4043 Lake Ave., Lockport, start May 1 and run nine consecutive Tuesday nights (6:30-9:30 p.m.), culminating with a disaster simulation June 26. 

Classes at Cambria Fire Company, 4631 Cambria-Wilson Rd., Cambria (Lockport), take place for nine straight Thursday evenings (6:30-9:30 p.m.) beginning May 3, and end with a disaster simulation June 28.

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training is a community preparedness course that includes academic and hands-on instruction as well as a disaster training exercise that is designed to prepare community members to help themselves, their family and neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster.

Grisanti Announces Senate Passage of Tough Auto Insurance Fraud Measures

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) announced that the New York Senate passed three bills to combat auto insurance fraud which costs New Yorkers more than $1 billion a year, as well as legislation that would impose stronger criminal penalties for staging auto accidents.  Recently, high profile cases have uncovered massive crime rings incorporating doctors, lawyers, and scam artists who stage accidents and use New York's no-fault insurance program as their own personal ATM machine.  In Brooklyn, 16 people were arrested and charged with intentionally causing a dozen accidents involving unsuspecting motorists between 2009 and 2011 and then submitting fraudulent insurance claims that defrauded insurance companies for $400,000.

According to an email sent to the WGRZ-2 On Your Side newsroom by Steve Aldrin on Friday afternoon, the anonymous "client" referred to in the press release below, who corrobates State Senator Mark Grisantt's account of an altercation which took place at Seneca Niagara Casino over the weekend, is actually "prominent Seneca businessmen Seth Snyder - the man arguing with Eric White before White broke Grisanti's ribs."

FREE Emergency Preparedness Training Available in Wheatfield

Border Community SERVICE of Niagara University will host a free CERT training course beginning Jan. 17, 2012, at the St. Johnsburg Fire Company, located at 7165 Ward Rd. in North Tonawanda (Wheatfield). 

CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training is a community preparedness course that includes academic and hands-on instruction as well as a disaster training exercise that is designed to prepare you to help yourself, family and neighbors in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Individuals can make a difference by using CERT to save lives and protect property in your neighborhood.

The classes will run for eight consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and culminate in a disaster simulation on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Burglary Interrupted at Niagara Falls Country Club

A Statement Released by the Niagara County Sheriff Office

LEWISTON, NY - A burglary in progress was interrupted by security personel at the Niagara Falls Country Club, 534 Mountain View Drive in Lewiston. Arrested was 18-year-old Alex Parker of Lewiston.

Parker was charged with 3rd Degree Burglary (D Felony),1st Degree Reckless Endangerment (D Felony) and Petit Larceny (A Misdemeanor). Parker was arraigned before Judge Hugh Gee in Lewiston Town Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Parker is scheduled to return to Lewiston Town Court 09/27/2011.

Children physical activities and parents participation
The writer has often mentioned in previous articles that parents could improve their physical health if they involved themselves with their children’s activities especially in Buffalo, New York.  Well now there is one more reason why parents should participate in outdoor activities with their child or children. Young children are being watched by adults that don’t have great intentions.  Almost everyday the news there seems to be news of a child being kidnapped.  Some of the children that have been kidnapped were enjoying one of their favorite pastimes such bicycling, and walking around in their neighborhoods
