MANgels Dress for Success to Help Relay Team Fight Cancer

MANgels Dress for Success to Help Relay Team Fight Cancer

About two dozen Western New York men have signed on to shave their legs, don women’s wear and ham it up to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The second annual Relay for Life Peaches N Crème Fashion Show will be held Saturday, May 12, at the Historic Palace Theatre, 2 East Ave., Lockport. The show is being organized by Relay team Maurices Angels, and it features men volunteering to wear fashions donated by Maurices on Transit Road in Lockport.

Team Captain Anne LaSota said that the idea came about last year when teams were discussing fundraising ideas.

“We didn’t have one and needed one quick,” she said. “I looked at Cat Hair Brownies Captain Jay Zimmerman, who happens to be a friend of mine, and for some reason pictured him in a dress.”

She ran her thought by her team, and members loved it.

“It took only a few days to round up 17 men that were ready willing and eager to dress like a woman,” she said.
