Arrest Warrant Issued in Dog Slamming Case

WHEATFIELD, N.Y. -- A Niagara County Judge has issued an arrest warrant tonight for a man accused of slamming a dog to the ground.

The dog named Abby suffered a broken pelvis and is being cared for by the Niagara County SPCA.  Investigators say 27-year-old Jason Evrard threw the dog, which belongs to his grandmother, to the ground.

"There was an incident that arose, and he, out of rage, made the statement that, how would you like it if I broke your dogs neck? Took the dog out of her lap and slammed it to the ground," said Aaron Kandefer with the Niagara County SPCA.

Evrard is facing felony animal cruelty charges.  He faces up to two years in prison if convicted.
