Niagara U Presents Summer Class on Preparing the Perfect Barbecue

With Mother’s Day now on the back burner, Niagara University’s Office of Continuing Education is offering a great gift idea for all the fathers out there.

Ideal for amateur barbecuers, their friends and for Father’s Day, NU is accepting registrations for an innovative, hands-on continuing education course that will teach participants how to cook competition-quality barbecue ribs from start to finish.

The course, which will take place Saturday, May 19, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will be instructed by Robert Giordano and Roy “Honcho” Gregory of the Smokin’ Eagles International BBQ Festival. The celebrated duo will share their secrets on preparing the perfect rack of ribs right down to the smoking, including recipe selection, seasoning options, cooking techniques and food safety tips.

Class participants will have the opportunity to sample their results at the conclusion of the demonstration.

NY Senate Passes Grisanti Law Criminalizing Concealment Of Human Corpse

Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60) today announced that the New York State Senate has voted to pass the Bill S6489 which makes it a crime to conceal a death by knowingly moving or otherwise hiding a human corpse so that discovery of the death will be hindered.    The bill known as “Amanda Lynn’s law” would make the commission of this crime a D Felony up from a misdemeanor for the improper disposal of a dead body.

“I am pleased that the Senate has voted to pass this law in honor of Amanda Lynn.  Current law is totally inadequate for the seriousness of the crime of improperly disposing of a human being.  With the passing of Amanda Lynn’s law anyone who attempts to move or conceal a body in the attempt to hinder its discovery will find the full weight of the legal system thrown at them,” said Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60).

'The Voice' Star Angie Johnson Talks Buffalo Niagara Film Festival, New Music

Air Force intelligence analyst-turned YouTube sensation and a star on NBC's "The Voice," Angie Johnson will perform this weekend as part of the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival. She is a featured artist at Saturday's BNFF closing ceremony (6:30 p.m., The Rapids Theatre). She will perform the national anthem, as well as songs by Martina McBride, The Dixie Chicks and Adele.

While deployed in the Middle East last summer, a video of Johnson singing Adele's smash "Rolling in the Deep" made its way to YouTube. Within 10 days, the clip netted one million views -- and the attention of "The Voice" host Carson Daly. He personally arranged an audition for Johnson. Her rendition of Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker" drew high praise from the coaches, and Johnson was chosen to compete for "Team Red Zone" -- CeeLo Green's team.
